I was glad when this competition for The Society of Illustrators came up so I could have some of my larger pieces photographed. I haven't any real experience photographing my artwork, so why not let a professional do it?
Anyway, this was for my college rendering class from about a year or so ago. We had to take a photograph of ourselves in dramatic lighting, then draw it in Prisma color pencils using a grid system to help with accuracy.

This has such an interesting texture and style. There is almost a cut out paper feel.
How many self-portraits did you end up having to make throughout college? Enough to make you scream and tear off your own face? I felt that way after the first thousand, then I submitted to defeat. Now I draw them for fun. wow...
